Mindfulness is the practice of being aware. It is a practice because it is something we have to work at every day. Mindfulness involves being aware of what is happening around you; in your mind, your physical body, and your emotional body. Because this practice is so broad, you can do anything mindfully. For example, you can breathe mindfully, eat mindfully, walk mindfully, talk mindfully- you can even use social media mindfully. On the other hand, you can also do all these things without being mindful or paying attention. Think about how quickly your favorite snack disappears when you sit in front of the television and don't pay attention to what you are eating. These activities will help you engage with the world more intentionally to enjoy life more fully.
